Refund Policy

The short version: when an event still happens, the host decides their refund policy and we honour it. When an event is cancelled or substantially changed by the host, you get a full refund.
Your refund is paid back to the same card or bank account you paid from, via 9 Payment Service Bank (9PSB).
When you're entitled to a refund
- Host cancels the event— full refund of the ticket price. We may issue this directly on the host's behalf and deduct it from their settlement.
- Host substantially changes the event — defined as changing the date, moving the venue more than 50 km, or dropping a headline performer / programme element that was advertised. Full refund if you ask within 7 days of the change being announced.
- Duplicate charge — if you accidentally paid twice for the same ticket, the duplicate is refunded automatically within 3 business days.
- Failed payment that still left your account— if your bank shows the money left but no pass appeared in your AriyoEvents account within 24 hours, contact us and we'll investigate. If we can't reconcile within 7 days, the charge is reversed.
- Host's own refund policy — many hosts offer a cooling-off window (often 7 or 14 days from purchase, before the event starts). The window is stated on the event page before you buy.
When refunds aren't available
- You changed your mind after the host's cooling-off window closed. Once the host says no further refunds, no further refunds.
- You didn't show up. No-shows are not refundable.
- Force majeure— if the event was cancelled or postponed because of an event outside the host's reasonable control (natural disaster, civil unrest, pandemic restriction, government action), the host may offer a credit or rescheduled pass instead of a cash refund. We support either at the host's reasonable discretion.
- Service fees — the 1.5% platform fee on a paid ticket is non-refundable on attendee-initiated cancellations. On host cancellations, we refund the fee too.
How to request a refund
- Talk to the host first.Open the event page → tap the host's contact card. Most refund requests are settled there in under a day.
- Escalate to us if the host doesn't respond within 7 days — email refunds@ariyoevents.com with:

How long refunds take
- Card payments — 5 to 10 business days to land back on your card. The reversal is initiated by 9PSB; the actual posting depends on your card issuer.
- Bank transfer payments — 1 to 3 business days back to the originating account.
- If your refund is due and 14 business days have passed without it appearing, email refunds@ariyoevents.com with your payment reference and we'll chase 9PSB on your behalf.
Chargebacks
If you raise a chargeback with your card issuer before asking us first, we may be unable to also issue a separate refund (you'd end up paid twice). Please contact us first — we'd almost always rather refund directly than fight a chargeback.
Hosts: how cancellations work for you
- When you cancel an event, you must refund attendees in full within 14 days. We may refund directly on your behalf from your settlement balance — please confirm before we do.
- Refunds you authorise via your dashboard go out the same day.
- If your settlement balance is insufficient (you've already cashed out), we may invoice you for the deficit. Repeated cancellations without timely refunds will result in suspension under the Terms of Service.
Disputes
If you and the host disagree about whether a refund is owed, email refunds@ariyoevents.com with both sides of the story. We'll review the event description as it appeared at time of purchase, the host's stated refund policy, and any communications between you, then make a decision within 7 business days. Our decision is binding within the platform but doesn't affect any statutory consumer rights you have under Nigerian law.
